Fall Quarter Meet the Chair Pizza Lunch & Chat

Alberto Alessi - Cooper-Hewitt - FREE - Mon, Nov 22 - 6:30 - 8pm

Alberto Alessi in Conversation with
Bill Moggridge
 Monday, November 22, 2010, 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Since taking the company helm in 1970, Alberto Alessi, President and Director of Marketing Strategies and Design Management, has treated the company as a research lab in the Applied Arts. Its vast product line includes everything from an iconic, whistling teakettle to a designer flyswatter, and the company has long been at the forefront of innovative and inspired product design. By collaborating with world class designers and architects, Alessi continues to explore and research the most forward ideas in design.
This program will focus on the history of Alessi, from 1921 through the present. Mr. Alessi will speak about the role of objects in modern consumer society, comparing the Italian design factories with mass production factories. The presentation will be followed by a discussion with Bill Moggridge, Director of Cooper-Hewitt.

ASID Student Mixer A Success!

Thanks to everyone who came out for the ASID Student Mixer last Thursday at Davis & Warshow.  We had a great turnout, Art Institute had the most students attend!  Congratulations to student Haley Yun who won a hand-held shower head from Hansgrohe.  And special thanks to ID Chair Anthony Caradonna for stopping by to join us for the evening!  Hope you all had a great time and look forward to seeing you at our next event!

Congratulations Winter Registration Complete for Interior Design!

Dear Interior Design Students,

I want to personally thank each and everyone of you and congratulate you for the excellent work you all did in contributing to an extremely successful registration session this Fall quarter.

Dave Nash and I thank you and apologize to you and your faculty for being so persistent in contacting you and interrupting you during your class time. However, it is clear that having the opportunity to review and plan your academic progress during preregistration and advising allows you and us to chart the best course schedule for the Winter and subsequent quarters so that you can plan and measure the best options for your successful academic progress.

If any issues arise or there is an urgent need to review and make schedule revisions, please contact me or Dave Nash.
I look forward to working more closely with the students and faculty to build stronger communication
And community.  This fall registration session was the first and most important step in getting to know each and everyone of you and your academic profiles.

Dave Nash and I thank you all,
Sincerely,
Anthony Caradonna
